A native of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Bill and his triplet sisters, Betty and Barbara, were born in 1934, creating quite a lot of concern for their parents and substantial interest by their older sister Nancy and their relatively small home- town community.
Undoubtedly, Bill’s father, whom had a hobby of photography, initiated Bill’s curiosity relative to photography. His proud father documented the development of his children through their younger years with the usual array of family photos and always finished each year with a special annual Christmas card featuring his four children. In later years his Dad would explain the technicalities of the dark room and cameras to Bill.
His mother also had a profound influence on Bill’s fascination with all things of nature. A professional floral designer and greenhouse owner, his mother instilled a high regard for the beauty of nature and an appreciation of the need to preserve and care for our environment.
Following several years of involvement with the family business, Bill returned to his alma mater joining the faculty of Cornell University as a Cooperative Extension Specialist, serving the educational needs of the commercial horticulture industry of New York State.
Over the years, Bill honed his photographic skills through self- education and enrollment in the NY Institute of Photography.
Appropriately, many of his subjects are floral images, a good portion of them cultivated by him. Bill is an avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman, reflecting that passion with landscapes, seascapes, wildlife and nature photography.
Bill was an award-winning member of the Artist Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, RI, where he retired several years ago. In 2009, Bill moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, and is a member of the Seacoast Artist Guild and Myrtle Beach Camera Club. He has collected some new awards including a first place ribbon in the Seacoast Artist Guild Fall Show and an honorable mention in their recent Spring Show. He very much enjoys the wonderful photographic opportunities the area provides along with the many outstanding qualities of the community he now calls home.
Bill hopes to provide opportunities for persons to view, enjoy, and gain whatever satisfaction they may experience from images of the beautiful environment they are such an important part of, and to instill a feeling of responsibility for protecting and preserving that environment.
